Activities

In every heart at Die Oord PV3, there's a story of resilience and a spirit that shines brighter than the sun. Together, we create a world where care and community light the path to endless possibilities.

WORKSHOP INITIATIVE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Workshop Initiative In addition to our projects and fundraising initiatives, we provide residents with simple, repetitive contract tasks to supplement their income and instill a sense of purpose and self-worth. All work is carried out under the supervision and quality control of an instructor for each group.

If you or your business are interested in the types of tasks our residents can undertake, feel free to send us an email at oordinfo@oordpv3.co.za.

Instructors, aided by their residents, follow a weekly programme for garden maintenance. Residents are also involved in domestic chores like cleaning tables after meals and washing dishes.

EXERCISE, SPORT, LEISURE & ENTERTAINMENT

Exercise & Sports At The Oord PV3, we believe that exercise and physical activity are essential for adults with intellectual disabilities to reach their full potential, both physically and mentally. Residents with the necessary skills are given ample opportunities to participate in various sports and cultural activities. Our teams compete in annual swimming and athletics meetings against other centres, and we’re also represented in the floor hockey league. Frequent walking excursions and weekly dance events ensure our residents remain active.

Leisure & Entertainment Evening and weekend leisure comes in the form of group activities. This includes twice-weekly concerts and dances, the Spring Dance and House Concert, as well as the annual Christmas play — these are the highlights of the year. Friday afternoons are typically spent at the tuck shop, and residents enjoy socialising under our large fig tree.
